In the Radwave app, there are two privacy policies implemented depending on your location. Users in the United States are given access to the Full Version of the Radwave app. Users outside the United States or users who decline location permission are given access to the Anonymous Version of the Radwave app. The functional difference is that user provided tag descriptions are not shared within Radwave.

1.0 Radwave created this platform to enable users, like you, to easily explore the spectrum to better understand the world around you. To ensure that Radwave is working, and to better understand what you find relevant, we collect information from you and third parties. We only use that information where we have a proper legal basis for doing so. This policy is to inform you about what information we collect, what we use it for, and what choices you have about it. 2.0 Radwave collects information multiple ways. We’ll review these methods in the following subsections.
2.1 When you sign up for or use Radwave, you give us information voluntarily. This information includes your email address, name, and any other information you provided when signing up for a Radwave account. This also includes tags, collections, comments, and any other User Content that you create. You can also choose to share with us location data, photos, and other media. If you link your account from third-party services such as Facebook or Google to Radwave, we also obtain information from those accounts. This can include your friends, contacts, etc. The specific information Radwave gets from those services varies depending on your settings and their privacy policies. You are encouraged to check what those settings and policies are. Moreover, Radwave utilizes third-party services such as Google Admob to generate revenue. The specific information obtained from those services varies depending on the provider. 2.2 Radwave obtains technical information when you use Radwave. This includes data about the sensor you are using with Radwave, and your interactions with Radwave and the sensor. Radwave also looks at device usage statistics, such as battery and storage.
2.3 Just as with other mobile and web-based services, this also includes log data recorded by our servers and systems, such as information sent by your browser when you visit a website. This can include things such as browser type and settings, device information, date and time of requests and other interactions, and internet cookie data. When we use cookies or similar technologies, we use either session or persistent cookies, depending on the type of data involved. For instance, authentication data may be stored in a session cookie, whereas language and other user preferences may be stored in persistent cookies. 2.4 Particularly since Radwave is a beta product, we’re interested in crash reports. If you experience technical issues with Radwave, please let us know at support@radwave.com so we can work to fix it. We do collect crash reports automatically, but those can be limited. Direct user feedback is always appreciated. We also collect information about device type and settings, which can vary depending on the type of device being used.
3.0 Radwave uses this information to improve our products and services. By looking at how users interact with Radwave, and by receiving feedback of user experiences, we are able to better understand how to modify and enhance Radwave to better serve you. We are also able to respond to your questions. Further, by looking at how two versions of a feature are used in Radwave, we can determine which is preferred.
3.1 Radwave also uses this information to identify you when you use Radwave.
3.2 Radwave also uses this information to work with law enforcement and maintain Radwave as a safe and lawful platform. Radwave respects the civil liberties of its users, and only provides user information to law enforcement with sufficient due process, e.g. when a verified law enforcement officer provides a search warrant. 4.0 In addition to the circumstances above, we use the information above with your consent to send you marketing materials. When we do so, we provide an option to unsubscribe.
5.0 With the exception of password changes, after signing up for a Radwave account, the easiest method to editing information about your account or closing it is to email us at support@radwave.com. We can verify everything on our end so that you can rest easy. When you close your account, we deactivate it and remove your tags and User Content from Radwave.
5.1 You also have choices about how information is handled through the browser and device that you use. Your browser allows you to control cookies and other local data storage. Your device asks for permission about sharing information such as your location with Radwave. To learn more about these options, please refer to documentation from the providers and manufacturers of those software and products.
6.0 Radwave shares information for a few different reasons. We’ll review these reasons in the following subsections.
6.1 Whenever you share a spectral tag, the tag, User Content, and associated metadata such as time and frequency information are shared with other third party services, such as Facebook or Twitter.
6.2 You should also be aware that Radwave may in the future change the way that content is shared. You will be notified of such an event in advance via the email address you provide when you sign up for a Radwave account.
6.3 Data is also shared with third party companies or individuals that we employ to process information on our behalf. In such instances, these companies and individuals are acting based on our instruction and in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Some information we acquire may be collected by third party providers on our behalf.
6.4 Radwave shares information with third parties that we use to audit or improve performance of content on websites and apps, for instance with Google Analytics. If you’d like more details about this, feel free to ask us at support@radwave.com.
6.5 We also share information with law enforcement and other government agencies if we believe that it is reasonably necessary to
• comply with a law, regulation or legal request
• to protect the safety, rights, privacy or property of the public, any person(s), or Radwave
• to detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security, or technical issues.
6.6 If Radwave were to engage in a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, dissolution, reorganization, or similar transaction or proceeding that involves the transfer of information described in this Policy, we would share your information with a party involved in such a process (for example, a potential purchaser).
7.0 Radwave keeps your information only so long as we need it to provide Radwave to you and fulfill the purposes described in this policy. This is also the case for anyone that we share your information with and who carries out services on our behalf. When we no longer need to use your information and there is no need for us to keep it to comply with our legal or regulatory obligations, we’ll either remove it from our systems or depersonalize it so that we can’t identify you.
8.0 Children under 13 are not allowed to use Radwave. If you are a parent and you learn that your child is using Radwave and you don’t want them to, please contact us at support@radwave.com.
9.0 We may change this policy occasionally. If and when that happens, those changes will be updated on this page. This version of Radwave - Radwave Anonymous - is designed to do so while maintaining your privacy. To ensure that Radwave is working, we collect information from you and third parties. 2.0 First, when you open Radwave, it first determines which country you are in. Radwave utilizes a combination of TelephonyManager.getNetworkCountryIso() and geoip-db to do so. Radwave only uses this country information on your device, and never collects it or stores it. The country information is used to determine what data privacy regulations are applicable, and the Radwave app uses this information to determine how to - and how not to - handle your data. If you are reading this, it has been determined that you are in Radwave’s anonymous region. In the anonymous region, Radwave collects information - and does not collect information - multiple ways. We’ll review these methods in the following subsections.
2.1.0 When you sign up for or use Radwave, you give us information voluntarily. This information includes your email address, name, and that you accept our Terms and Conditions when signing up for a Radwave account. This also includes spectral tags, spectral collections, and any other User Content that you create. However, Radwave does NOT associate you or any of your account information with the User Content that you create.
2.1.1 Radwave explicitly does NOT allow you to share any User Content that could contain personal data. This includes location data, photos, audio, video, user-provided text, and other content. Further, Radwave does NOT associate any of the spectral tags, spectral collections or any other User Content with your email or other user account information. Radwave does NOT allow you to link your account to third-party services such as Facebook or Google to Radwave. Radwave does utilize third-party ad services to generate revenue, namely Google AdMob. 2.1.2 It is noted that the spectral tags and spectral collections in Radwave do NOT contain personal data. Raw, time-domain digital signals collected by Software Defined Radios (SDRs) can contain personal data, e.g. unencrypted analog-modulated human voice broadcast over radio. However, the processing performed in Radwave is irreversible and specifically designed to make such personal data unrecoverable. This processing includes first calculating the Power Spectral Density (PSD). This calculation removes the phase (i.e. timing) of each frequency component of the underlying signal. This phase information is critical to recovering the time-domain signal. Without it, demodulating the radio signal is impossible for all analog and most digital modulations. The only exceptions are Frequency Shift Keying (FSK) and On-Off Keying (OOK) digital modulations. In order to prevent FSK and OOK signals from being demodulated, Radwave limits the resolution of the spectral display. This limit constrains the maximum data rate that can be demodulated, to the point where no modern/personal-use communication systems can be demodulated from the Radwave spectral collections. Therefore, spectral collections and spectral tags and Radwave do NOT contain personal data.
